Analysis of heat treatment of mold materials

The heat treatment of the mold material is a very important process in the mold manufacturing process. The heat treatment can change the structure and properties of the material to ensure the final service life of the mold. The choice of mold heat treatment method and process is also determined according to the working conditions of the mold, the failure mode and the different requirements for performance. Improve the heat treatment equipment, improve the heat treatment process, and make the best combination of strength and toughness of the material; strictly follow the heat treatment process, control the heating temperature, time and cooling speed to ensure the use performance of the mold. Compared with the foreign mold industry, the key lies in the application of advanced equipment and the control of the process, combined with the actual situation in China, the development of social cooperation, heat treatment production by professional manufacturers have great benefits for the overall quality of the mold. 

The working part of the cold stamping die is the cutting edge, and the punch is strongly rubbed when punched out and pulled out of the sheet. Therefore, the requirement for the punching mold is that the surface of the cutting edge should have good wear resistance. The surface treatment can maintain the substrate with sufficient toughness and improve the wear resistance of the surface of the material.

Commonly used mold surface strengthening treatment techniques can be divided into three categories: 1. Methods for changing the chemical composition of the surface of the substrate, such as metallizing, carburizing, nitriding, etc.; 2. Methods for not changing the chemical composition of the surface of the substrate, such as laser surface modification. Technology, electron beam surface treatment, etc.; 3, a method of forming a hardened layer on the surface of the substrate, such as PVD, CVD, PCVD, chrome plating, thermal spraying, and the like. Each kind of strengthening method has a certain scope of application. Therefore, to fully understand the characteristics of various surface strengthening treatment methods, it must be different according to different working conditions and different performance requirements, such as wear resistance, anti-adhesion, toughness, etc. Performance requirements to choose a reasonable surface strengthening treatment. 

Although the research level in the field of surface treatment has reached the international leading level, it is not mature enough to be applied to production, especially in cold stamping dies. It has not yet formed a set of effective process measures and equipment conditions. Small-scale laboratory research cannot meet the needs of large-scale social production.
